Rise and Shine is my way of starting the day with you – almost as if we’re chatting over a hot cup of coffee or tea! I share my favorite deals of the day, highlights from yesterday, and anything else that might help you save time, money or energy. Published in the morning on Monday through Friday  – as I’m able.

Good morning! How was your weekend? I hope you had a good Easter. We had a quiet weekend at home. We spent at least 8 hours working in the yard – weeding and cleaning up old beauty bark. Five of those hours were yesterday! The weather has been so beautiful here, I’m grateful for the sunshine and warmer temps to be outside. With all that’s going on in the world – digging in the dirt and being in the sun seems to be my happiest place of all. This is a good thing because this house we bought last summer has a LOT of maintenance that needs to be done. On Saturday we worked on a new path from our steps to the street – I need to fill it in with some rocks, but we’re working on that!

Speaking of yard work, I finally got around to posting our DIY Raised Garden beds! This is with current pricing for 2020 from my local Lowes. My old blog post from 2012 had these beds costing around $35 – but of course supply costs have gone up since there. With the warmer weather I hope to get some seeds in the dirt this week!! Exciting, exciting! Are you gardening or doing more yard work these days?

It seems every week or so I’ve been making a batch of Crockpot Potato soup. It’s such an easy recipe because potatoes are an inexpensive item that can be purchased plenty in advanced. I added dried rosemary this time and it was so delicious! We are getting so low on groceries – our last Fred Meyer pick-up was MARCH 29! This is definitely the longest we’ve gone without stopping at the grocery store, but we’re really trying to do our part. We did get Imperfect Foods produce delivered last Monday – so that produce has really catapulted us to this week – and we’re getting more Imperfect Foods produce today. . . and our next pick-up at Fred Meyer is later this week. We also had a few things like pasta delivered via Amazon Subscribe and Save (thankfully).

The weather has been gorgeous lately and it’s supposed to continue into this week. I don’t know about you, but grilling has definitely been on my mind. This grilled honey teriyaki chicken is amazing! We love to serve it with grilled asparagus because it’s fast and easy.  Have you pulled out your grill already this year?
