How Do I Pack My Dance Bag?

Pack your dance bag carefully. Make sure all of your dance essentials are packed inside it. Your dance bag should contain everything you need to be safe, comfortable and successful in your dance classes.

Here's what you need to pack in your dance bag:

• Shoes - Dance shoes should fit comfortably and allow you to move freely. They should also provide support and protection. Choose a pair of shoes that are appropriate for the class you're attending.

• Tights - Wear tights under your dance shoes. They protect your feet from injury and prevent sweat from building up between your toes.

• Warm-up clothes - Wear a pair of stretchy pants, a long sleeved shirt, and a sweater or jacket. These clothes will keep you warm during cool weather classes.

• Leotard - Wear a leotard underneath your dance clothing. It provides support and keeps your body from moving too much.

• Barrette - Use a hair clip to hold back your hair when dancing.

• Hairspray - Spray your hair before you head out the door. It makes your hair easier to manage and less likely to fall in your eyes.

• Toothbrush - Brush your teeth before heading out the door. Brushing your teeth after a dance class can cause bad breath.

• Comb - Keep your hair looking neat and tidy. Use a wide tooth comb to brush through your hair.

• Hairpins - Use hairpins to pin up your hair.

• Perfume/cologne - Put on perfume or cologne before leaving home. It smells nice and adds a little extra sparkle to your appearance.

• Antiseptic Wipes - Carry antiseptic wipes with you to clean cuts and scrapes.

• Antibiotic Ointment - Apply antibiotic ointment to minor injuries such as blisters and scratches.

• Bandages - Carry bandages with you in case you cut yourself.

• First Aid Kit - Carry a first aid kit with you at all times. It includes bandages, adhesive tape, tweezers, scissors, and safety pins.

• Hand Sanitizer - Wash your hands frequently throughout the day. Carry hand sanitizer with you to use whenever you have contact with other people.
