Brain Breaks for Kids Learning at Home

Parents, we know you are working hard to do it all these days, so we’ve rounded up some free homeschooling screen-free activities for your little ones below. Cool aunts, uncles, grandparents, and teachers are welcome, too 😉

Back to school looks very different in 2020. With parents scrambling to figure out if they’re homeschooling full or part-time, distance learning is a reality that has parents and teachers overwhelmed. Homeschooling is hard but remember the power of play! Brain breaks have been a common theme for quite some time but are now a front and center topic in today’s world. They don’t always have to be physical to be successful. Getting children to take a quick break off of screen based learning and enjoy a relaxing coloring page or puzzle can be just as helpful in resetting the brain and replenishing attention.

With a treasure trove of children’s activity, coloring, and picture books, Fox Chapel Publishing is here to help kids relax and recharge. From puzzles and seek-and-find games to drawing, coloring, and other activities, our collection of interactive children’s books are key for taking a break and boosting focus! Below are some free resources to get parents started and hopefully give kids a much needed break while giving parents a little time to breathe.

Coloring for relaxation

Coloring has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety while improving focus. Coloring can also help get those creative juices flowing while building self-esteem and giving them a finished product that they can be proud of.  Many coloring books such as Notebook Doodles coloring books, are filled with uplifting quotes to help boost moods and promoting positive thoughts.
